6 Winners in 2 days for Reward For Effort

Reward For Effort sired a spate of winners over the Christmas period including six winners in the last two days, taking his season tally to 54 winners (15th in Australia).

The fun started with Murphy’s Reward at Moonee Valley on Saturday in a $100,000 Handicap over 1000m. Replay.

Trained by Lindsay Park, Murphy’s Reward was first up after a four month spell and led all the way in typical Reward For Effort style.

The dam of Murphy’s Reward, Instant was born and raised at Chatswood’s old property in Avenel and is branded with AW. Besides Murphy’s Reward, she has also produced Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes Winner, Minson. Instant now resides at Chatswood Stud Seymour where she has been a foster mother to an orphan foal despite not having a foal of her own for two years.

It was a big thrill to see good friends of Chatswood’s, Tony and Nancye Hill enjoy an exciting city victory. Tony and Nancye have been a huge support to Chatswood and our Stallions including Invincible Spirit, Racer’s Edge and of course Reward For Effort.

Boxing Day provided the sire with four winners, headlined by the very exciting, Big Effort who broke the class record at Morphettville over 1050m. Replay.

Big Effort was also first up from a spell after battling constant hoof problems.
It was an emotional win for another close friend of Chatswood’s, Sharon Hayes who bred, trains and owns Big Effort who has now won five from eleven starts with prize-money over $165k.

Sharon trains four horses at Western Flat in South Australia, three of which are sired by Reward For Effort. The dam of Big Effort, New Status is currently at Chatswood where she is again safely in foal to Reward For Effort.

Also on Boxing Day was Effortless Opera who won easily at Devonport at her second start for breeder/owner David Barclay. Replay
Meanwhile the Nathan Hobson trained duo, Effortless Miss and Reward With Return both won at Kerang’s Cup Meeting.

On Tuesday, Reward sired a double at Penola in South Australia with Bridgy Lass and Iamthekey both winning comfortably.
